Orange smoke signal
When to use it
The NEW Comet Orange smoke signal is a small and compact distress signal for daytime use only, designed for stowage in liferafts. Signal for marking position during rescue operations. Indicates wind direction. Can be used safely in oil or gasoline covered waters. Conforms to SOLAS 74/88 as amended. Two signals are required to be carried on SOLAS liferafts and lifeboats. Two are supplied in RORC and Offshore leisure kits. To use: Remove the top cover, pull the plastic tab away from the body. A 2 second delay gives time to launch the dinghy downwind in the water.
Storage requirements
Ideally, it should be stored in the specially designed sturdy plastic bottle, or in a dry and easily accessible place at room temperature.
Comet's NEW 3-minute orange smoke signal is a compact and flat daytime distress signal designed to be easy and safe to operate. It provides effective position signaling during rescue operations and can be used to indicate wind direction, producing dense orange smoke for a minimum of 3 minutes.
